Stuffed Appe
Appe, also known as Appam, is made from fermented rice and urad daal. Prepared in a special cast-iron stove-top pan, this tasty treat is served in Goan households for breakfast or as a snack. Generally, Appes are plain; however, they can be stuffed with a variety of fillings like Shrimp, Chicken, Kheema or vegetables. Plain Appes are served with chutney. Sweet Appes made from ripe Banana or Jackfruit are also delicious.
Rawa Fried Fish
Fish Rawa Fry is a special delicacy from Goa. Fish or shrimps are marinated with special spices and herbs and coated with home-made batter which resembles Rawa (semolina). Fish and shrimps are usually shallow-fried. The Rawa forms a crispy coating over the tender succulent fish.
Ek Shipi
While preparing this delicacy from Mussels or Clams, only one shell is left on. It gives the dish a special flavor. Opening, cleaning and preparing live Mussels and Clams is a time-consuming process. This preparation is also dry and eaten as a side dish.
